The curtains are permanently fixed to a runner at the top and detachable rails/poles at the front and rear. Since the curtain on the top and both sides of the tautliner semi trailer can be fully opened, multiple forklifts can operate simultaneously, and the schmitz tautliner loading and unloading efficiency is higher.
When closed for travel, vertical load restraint straps are attached to a rope rail beneath the schmitz cargobull tautliner bed, connecting the trailer bed and curtain along both sides. Winches at either end of the curtain tension it, hence the ‘Tautliner’ name.
